Band Manager • Assistant Band Manager
MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED. Band Managers will work through the challenges of being in a band with a small group of campers. This includes setting up, song-writing, tuning, facilitating creative collaboration, helping to name the band, and many other band activities. Band Coaches should have musical experience! Helpful skills: musical experience, working with youth, positive problem solving.
Instrument Leader • Instrument Assistant
MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED. Our campers possess a varying range of age and skill level, and many have never touched a musical instrument in their lives. Now it’s time to teach them what you know. You may do some collaborative large-group teaching, as well as small-group sessions (generally 3-5 students per teacher.) You will also meet or email with your fellow instrument instructors at least once before orientation to decide on a curriculum and what style and level of experience each instructor is comfortable teaching. If you sign up as an Instrument leader you will need to submit a lesson plan for the classes.
Instrument Choices: Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboards, Vocals
Workshop Leader • Workshop Assistant
Each of our workshops values developing life skills and self-esteem, as well as encouraging creativity, self-expression, and awareness. This is a great supplemental position for instrument instructors who would like to stay at camp through the afternoon. If you sign up as a workshop leader you will need to submit a lesson plan for the workshop(s).

MUSIC AND SOUND EQUIPMENT PRODUCTION EXPERIENCE NEEDED. This position will manage all aspects of the setup, distribution, maintainance, and use of music/sound gear during the camp. The coordinator will ensure the appropriate equipment is used and in working order for classes and the final showcase. The position will be requested to help periodically during the month before camp.
This position includes loading in / loading out equipment, setting up music and sound equipment (PA experience a plus).
Morning Assembly Crew
NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED. This is one of the most fun and necessary parts of camp. Get campers ready to ROCK! It’s so crucial to start the day off right and if you can hold your coffee in one hand and do a rock ‘n roll symbol with the other, this position is meant for you! Lead Punk Rock Aerobics, help write and perform skits, be generally silly and deliver important information to campers during camp week! Participating in morning assembly is a great way to be a leader and demonstrate positive role modeling.
NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED. No one is hungry at Rock Camp! The Food Team will collect donations from businesses and skillful individuals in the area to provide an array of food to feed some campers and all volunteers breakfast and lunch throughout the week, provide snacks for youth throughout camp and at the showcase, and provide lunch for volunteer orientation. This is also the team behind the constant flow of coffee and tea. Helpful skills: a driver’s license, a car, organizational skills, and the ability to make a spread of free food look extremely delish! Times are flexible because there’s plenty to do. We need folks to pick up donations, help prep breakfast (7 am – 8 am), help prep lunch (11 am – 12 noon), and help clean up all day long. Please let us know if you’re interested in this position during any part of the day! Fuel is super crucial to the Rock Camp world!
Information Table Crew
NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED. The information table position requires a volunteer to stay at a designated table to answer questions about camp or to let parents know where children are in case of an emergency. This position requires a general knowledge of camp procedures, rules, regulations, room assignments, & staff. Training will be provided.
NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED. The position registers students, distributes camp materials, enforces camp guidelines and policies, manages student attendance, supervises students, and generally helps where needed.
Set up and decorate lobby. During the showcase: hand out programs, sell raffle tickets and merchandise, take donations, and pack up lobby after showcase.
Showcase Instrument Tech
Check instruments during sound check and assist campers with tuning instruments backstage.
Blogger/Social Media Coordinator
This position is crucial to our online presence with camp. We need someone who can walk around photographing and capturing the exciting moments of the day, then turn those moments into memories, blog posts and social media shout outs (Facebook, Twitter and Youtube). Experience with Photography, WordPress, Facebook Fan Pages, Twitter and Youtube are helpful.
Camp Store Manager
VERY IMPORTANT, AND IF YOU ARE A MUSICIAN VOLUNTEERING FOR CAMP, PLEASE CONSIDER LETTING US BORROW YOUR GEAR! One of camp’s greatest needs is music equipment. We need everything, from guitars, cables, amps, PA’s, mike stands….we mean everything! So if you have equipment you can donate, please list it below, and we will make sure it comes back to you just as it was when you donated it. Instrument and equipment pick-up will be Saturday and Sunday after the Showcase.
