Oddly I saw Ms Mayfield for the first time this past Sat night at Headliners in louisville,ky .The last person I saw on that stage was Gillian Welch in Dec. 09.Both women offer the finest recordings and both exceed all expectations live.See them, buy their music, and love them as I do for their sweet perfection.

Don't forget Springfield, Missouri! www.QueenCityRockCamp.org

I'm glad you ladies got to go this year! When I attended in '09 I had never experienced such an amazing, supportive environment. Rock camp directors are the coolest!

I truly believe in taking chances with records based upon aesthetics.
I made my master's career out of doing just that when I studied Gigposters, album art, and music culture artifacts.
Vinyl especially gives the listener a chance to soak up lyrics, liner notes, pictures, and sometimes posters, in order to experience an album as a work of art. An album tells a story and there is a reason for the progression and order of songs. With the internet age and convenience of digital consumerism, it is easy to bypass an album's story when it is not represented the way it is handed to you when you buy a CD or a Vinyl record.

Long live vinyl!
